Embracing the spiritual side of money is critical for all entrepreneurs.

Spirituality and poverty don’t have to go hand-in-hand.

In fact, it’s possible that the prospect of wealth building is an important part of your spiritual journey. For some entrepreneurs, making money and growing one’s wealth can mean that the person is in tune with their belief in a higher power or the energy of the Universe. For those people, material poverty makes little sense in the context of spirituality.  And it may even be in opposition to living a rewarding spiritual life.

If you are someone who believes in making money as part and parcel of a healthy spiritual journey, consider creating a set of guiding principles. You want guiding principles that can allow you to “check in” with yourself from time to time.  Specifically to determine whether your career and financial principles are in line with your spiritual goals.

Here are some examples of how that set of guiding principles may look…

Embracing The Spiritual Side Of Money1. Am I Interested In Making Money Just For The Sake of the Money?

Even for people who believe that financial prosperity is a sign of spiritual growth, there likely are limits on making money. If you are working 60-hour weeks just to get more clients, then perhaps your priorities need re-tooling.

Maybe you feel that you need to make more money in order to buy more “stuff.”  Ask yourself whether this “stuff” includes items that really make you happy. Or are you getting to the point that your material goods are an empty means of measuring success? Maybe they’re filling a void that only your connection with Spirit can fill.

2. What Am I Doing With The Money I Make?

One of the best ways that money can enhance your spiritual growth is to use that money generously to help others. When you can give money to organizations or individuals who need it, you can see the direct benefit of using your money as part of your spiritual path.

One of the best ways that money allows you to make a positive impact is by being able to use extra funds to help others. Just be sure that the places where you are putting your money do indeed support your larger spiritual goals.

3. Am I Still in Touch With My Spirituality?

Even when you have the best of intentions, it is possible for the everyday activities of life, whether that’s making more money or shuffling the kids to activities every day of the week, to get in the way of what you have planned.

Ask yourself often whether your life’s activities still demonstrate to others what your beliefs are.

A significant benefit of making money as part of your spiritual growth means that you can be peaceful in your everyday life, rather than needing to worry about how you will pay this month’s bills or plan for retirement. Make sure from time to time that you are still living out those ideals to help keep you on track.

Using the prospect of building wealth as part and parcel of spirituality allows you to be a good example of positive spiritual growth that doesn’t have to be at odds with more secular goals.

By making money as part of your spiritual path, you will be able to demonstrate how you stay true to your spiritual beliefs while still earning a good income. This type of spirituality is a manifestation of the spiritual world in physical form.
