Time management is essential for creating the freedom to spend time with your family without worrying about work or other responsibilities. It requires a promise to change habits and a commitment to reaching new goals.

Consider these ideas:

1.Synchronize all the calendars. Instead of managing multiple calendars from work, school, and other activities, combine them into one system.

Pick one type of calendar and transfer all the information to it. Calendars come in online, paper and even sticky note versions. However, selecting one type is important to keeping all the data together.

Combine data from family members and coworkers into one calendar. Instead of having a separate chart for your kids’ soccer games, choir practice or dance recitals, add everything together. This allows for easier scanning to find leisure time or add it to the calendar.

2.Schedule time off. Include time for fun in your daily, weekly, and monthly calendars.Including leisure time in the calendar makes it one of your priorities.

Scheduling time off requires a commitment to completing other tasks on time and meeting all the deadlines.

3.Learn to be selective. The constant stream of emails and demands on your time call for being more selective with your tasks. Delegating tasks and rethinking your approach to work will help you discover more leisure time.

The 80/20 principle is a popular way to manage time. Also known as the Pareto principle, it states that 80 percent of your success comes from 20 percent of your efforts. This is why it’s important to focus on important tasks first and delegate work to others. Grouping tasks together also improves time management by creating a stream of similar work without interruption. Selecting the key tasks is easier once they are in related groups.

4.Find hidden time wasters and remove them. Are you spending too much time checking Facebook messages? Do you log in to Twitter multiple times a day? Social media can be one of the hidden daily time wasters, and changing this habit will lead to more leisure time.

It’s important to limit how much time social media takes up on your calendar. Get rid of the bookmarks to these websites, eliminate the pinned tabs, and only log in when it’s necessary.

Hidden time wasters can distract you from important tasks and affect deadlines. By removing them, you’re back in control of your schedule.

5.Use an egg timer or online tools to track time. Certain tasks need to be timed to ensure you stay on schedule.

A traditional kitchen egg timer is an easy way to keep track of tasks. It can be set up and left on a desk.

Online versions of kitchen timers operate in a similar way, but they don’t take up desk space. They can be used to schedule tasks and help you stay focused.

6.Create leisure goals and include them in a calendar. Calendars can be used for more than just tracking meetings or phone calls. They can be powerful tools for tracking goals while providing daily reminders of what you want to accomplish with your time off.

Creating a set of goals for leisure time will help you focus. Do you want to paint enough artwork to redecorate your entire house? Do you want to spend more time watching the kids play soccer? Each of these goals can be tracked with a calendar for better time management.

You can find more leisure time by streamlining how you handle your time.Calendars will help you keep track of daily tasks at work and home, but it’s the commitment to creating positive change that matters.

A Surprising Method To Find Out The Truth Of Your Assumptions http://evagregory.com/a-surprising-method-to-find-out-the-truth-of-your-assumptions/ http://evagregory.com/a-surprising-method-to-find-out-the-truth-of-your-assumptions/#respond Mon, 18 Sep 2017 15:00:38 +0000 http://evagregory.com/?p=10033 Everyone makes assumptions. We do it all day long. We assume that the pretty woman would say “no” if we were to ask her out on a date. We assume that we won’t get a raise if we ask for it. We assume that a new diet won’t work for us. If we’re really stuck, we assume that there’s nothing we can do to change our lives for the better.

But the truth is we all have faulty assumptions. We have lots of them.

Consider that if everything you believed were true, you’d have exactly the life you desire. If everything you believed about money were actually true, you’d have more of it than anyone else. So if your life is lacking in some way, then you believe things that aren’t true.

When we hold faulty beliefs, we make faulty assumptions. It’s a trap, because testing all of our assumptions is a great way to find the truth.

Rather than assuming a course of action is doomed to fail, put the universe to the test and make it say “no.” Maybe you’ll be right and maybe you’ll be wrong. But this is the only way to know for certain.

Try these steps to learn the truth:

1.Pick 2 areas of your life that could use improvement. Perhaps it’s your weight and your finances. It might be your love life and your career. The areas in which you’re struggling are the areas with the most incorrect assumptions.

2.Find someone that’s doing better in your areas of interest. We all have a co-worker or friend that seems to defy all logic and have a high-level of success. Maybe you have a co-worker that always seems to get the best bonus or the promotion, in spite of appearing average or even low performing.

3.In your opinion, what are the “rules” being violated by that person? What do you think they’re doing incorrectly that should be stopping them from success?

4.Test. Could you be wrong? Is there a way to test your hypothesis and discover the truth? Keep in mind that a solid experiment requires more than a single test. You can’t try a new way of flirting on just one person and come to a reasonable conclusion. It might require 20 people and a few weeks of flirting!

5.Keep testing your beliefs and assumptions. There are numerous times each day we don’t try because we assume we’ll be told “no.”Find out if you’re actually right.

Certainly you can remember a time where you knew you would be told “no,” but you went ahead and asked anyway, and much to your surprise, everything worked out. How many other times might that happen if you simply tried?

For a month, give yourself the gift of testing out every possibility that comes to mind, without risking life and limb. There’s no reason to prove that you can’t flap your arms and fly. But ask the object of your desires out on a date. Apply for the job you’re sure you can’t get. Put your online business idea into action.

After a month, you’re sure to find you were wrong about many things. You’ll also discover that the times you were right weren’t nearly as painful as you anticipated!

Learning how to deal effectively with the world requires stretching yourself and gaining experience. As you discover new distinctions, your perception of the world will change and your approach to life will see positive benefits.

A Simple Guide To Keeping A Journal http://evagregory.com/a-simple-guide-to-keeping-a-journal/ http://evagregory.com/a-simple-guide-to-keeping-a-journal/#respond Fri, 15 Sep 2017 15:00:14 +0000 http://evagregory.com/?p=10043 Law of Attraction CoachKeeping a journal is a wonderful activity for your personal growth. It forces you to reflect on your life regularly. It becomes more obvious where your challenges lie when you have to put your experiences down on paper.

It can also serve as a great way to record your life and see how you’ve grown over the years. You might be surprised three years from now when you look back on today.

It can be tough to get started: what do you write about? Should you use a notebook, word processor or something fancy like a leather-bound journal?

These tips can help you get started:

1.Choose your medium. It really doesn’t matter where you record your life; all have their advantages and disadvantages. Just choose something that works for you.

Notebooks do tend to be a better choice. Many of us spend all day typing away on our computers. Journaling in a notebook gives you a chance to manually write something. It seems more sacred to write with our own hand. Computers can also be distracting; you might sit down to do your journaling and end up surfing the Internet.

2.Keep it short. Of course, you can write as much as you want. But if you keep it short, you’ll be a lot more likely to do it regularly. Even just a few bullet points can be enough to capture the essence of what happened in your day.

3.Set a schedule. If you use a notebook, keep it by your bed or the coffee pot; that way you won’t miss it. Set a reminder on your computer. It makes more sense to do it at the end of the day as you reflect on your day, but any time is better than never. Choose a time and stick to it.

4.Never miss more than one day. Things come up, and it’s easy to miss a day here and there. If you miss more than one day in a row, you might wind up missing five days before you know it. Be consistent. It can be difficult to go back and fill in the blanks at a later date.

If you do forget and skip a couple of days, rely on your records. You can look back at your calendar or planner and your emails to jog your memory about how the days were spent.

5.Track your progress toward your goals. List the things that are most relevant to you at the time. For example, if you’re trying to lose weight, mention related victories, missteps, and your weight fluctuations. If you’re trying to earn an extra $1,000 this month, keep a running tally of your progress.

6.Keep your journal private and secure. If you believe that someone else might see it, you might be hesitant to be completely open when writing in it. This is one area that computers really shine; with a decent password, it would take the CIA to get into your journal. A simple locked drawer can work well, too.

Before you know it, you’ll have a shelf full of your journal entries. Consider that writing just half of a page each day would be over 3,000 pages in 10 years!

Journaling is an excellent way to record your life and track your progress. Think about how interesting it would be to read your current entries 10 or even 50 years from now. You might even want to give your journals to your children someday. Begin your journal today. A life worth living is a life worth recording!

A Proven Process For Making Effective Decisions http://evagregory.com/a-proven-process-for-making-effective-decisions/ http://evagregory.com/a-proven-process-for-making-effective-decisions/#respond Thu, 14 Sep 2017 15:00:25 +0000 http://evagregory.com/?p=10040 Law of Attraction Coach
It’s hard to think of a challenging area of your life that didn’t become challenging due to poor decision-making. Wiser decisions lead to a more successful and lower-stress life. When you make effective decisions, your life is more enjoyable and satisfying.

Master the art of decision-making and enhance the quality of your life by following this process:

1.Decide what you’re trying to accomplish. What is the end result that you’re hoping for? To maximize your income? Strengthen your relationship? Minimize the financial or emotional cost? Advance your career? Be clear on the desired outcome of your decision.

2.Make a list of your resources. Imagine you had to make a home repair. You’d determine which tools you had available for the job and then make a plan based upon those available tools. You might also purchase new tools.

What resources do you possess that are applicable to following through on your possible options?

3.Brainstorm possible choices.Avoid judging your options too quickly. Make a long list. You can evaluate them later.

4.Consider the odds of success. Discard any solution with a poor chance of success.

5.Consider the time and money involved. For example, an above-ground pool costs much less than an in-ground pool. A pet parrot requires more time and attention than a cat.

6.What are the risks? What can go wrong and what are the ramifications? A pet bird is harder to get rid of and can live five times longer than a cat. Birds can also be much more expensive, so more money is at risk.

7.Is the upside worth the risk? Some options are riskier than others, but the greater potential rewards are often worth the extra risk. How much do you stand to gain?

8.What are the long-term implications? Who will be affected by your decision? What does your decision mean 10 years from now? What will you gain and sacrifice in the long-term?

9.Can you trust yourself to follow through? A good decision that you can’t complete is no better than a poor decision or no decision at all. Sometimes the solution with the best likely outcome is too challenging to implement. Do you have the skills and the stamina to follow through?

10.Keep your values in mind. Many options are unacceptable due to your values. Keep your values in mind and you’ll be less likely to regret your decision later. What’s important to
you?

11.Avoid taking too much time to make a solution. There are have been several studies on the differences between “satisficers” and “maximizers”. A satisficer looks for the quickest, easiest solution that meets their criteria. That doesn’t mean they settle. It means that they accept the first solution that satisfies their needs and run with it.

A maximizer continues searching until the best possible solution is found.

Studies consistently show that satisficers are more successful and happier than maximizers. Avoid spending more time than necessary searching for a solution.

Making good decisions is important. Most challenges in life could have been avoided with wiser decisions. Most people take too much time to make decisions and they make decisions poorly. And, even worse, the surest way to ensure that you never make any progress is to never make any decisions.

The most successful people make wise decisions, decide quickly, and follow through. Improving the quality and speed of your decisions may be the fastest path to a more satisfying life.

A Simple Guide To Realizing Your Dreams http://evagregory.com/a-simple-guide-to-realizing-your-dreams/ http://evagregory.com/a-simple-guide-to-realizing-your-dreams/#respond Wed, 13 Sep 2017 15:00:59 +0000 http://evagregory.com/?p=10037 Law of Attraction CoachEveryone has dreams. Some are much larger and more complex than others, but they all have value. The dreams that you have are there for a reason: to be realized as a part of fulfilling your life purpose.

Many people give up on their dreams because they don’t see them coming to pass when planned. Have patience! Although your dream may not have come to pass yet, it can still be realized.

Making Your Dreams a Reality

While you can’t force dreams to happen, you can take steps toward actualizing them. Maybe you want to travel to a specific place. Do you know anything about the culture and language there? Are you saving money each week or month toward your trip? You won’t magically arrive there. You must plan and work toward what you want.

The same is true if you want to have a family, write a successful book, help others, move to another state, or anything else that interests you. Even if you try and fail, keep trying. Your dreams have value. Keep moving toward them, even if you face setbacks and challenges.

Visualizing and Planning for Your Dreams

In addition to physically working toward your dreams, mental preparation is important. That means you need to keep visualizing and dreaming.

Hold on to what you believe in and what you want to see happen in your life. Use the power of positive thinking in order to see your dream coming to fruition.

Try these techniques:

Make a vision board where you can pin or glue symbols of what you want to see realized.

Write down your dreams to keep them fresh in your mind. Keep a journal of what you’ve done toward realizing your dreams each day or each week.

Remember to enjoy and respect the present moment. Then you’ll be well practiced when your dreams do come to pass!

Talk with others who share your goals and dreams to stay encouraged and excited. Many successful people focus on positive affirmations and meditation to help them see and realize their dreams. By meditating on what you really want and how you’re going to get it, you may come up with solutions that you would otherwise not have thought about. Meditation gives your mind some quiet, peaceful time to work behind the scenes.

Positive affirmations also help keep your spirits up and keep you moving toward your goal, even when you don’t really see a way. Just because the way to your dream doesn’t seem obvious to you just now, that doesn’t mean there isn’t a way. Something could change in the blink of an eye. Suddenly, you’ll be able to see how and when your dream will be realized.

If you hold tight to your goals, you’ll find it easier to stay on the right track. Training yourself to observe progress can be important, too. This will help keep you motivated. Regardless of what your dreams are – however big or small they may be – you can usher them in to your life!

8 Tips For Building A Healthy Self-Image http://evagregory.com/8-tips-for-building-a-healthy-self-image/ http://evagregory.com/8-tips-for-building-a-healthy-self-image/#respond Tue, 12 Sep 2017 15:00:22 +0000 http://evagregory.com/?p=10029 Reaching your full potential is dependent on the creation and maintenance of a healthy self-image. It’s not possible to be highly successful if you don’t believe in yourself. The way you view yourself is either uplifting or a hindrance. Regardless of your childhood experiences, past failings, or current level of self-esteem, you can possess a healthy self-image.

Avoid underestimating the impact of your self-image on other areas of your life. To reach your full potential, you must respect yourself and believe you can do great things.

Add value to yourself, and your self-image will flourish:

1.Overcome any limiting beliefs. Think about something you’d like to accomplish, but are unable to do because of a limiting belief. Make a list of how that belief is negatively impacting your life. Now, focus on how much your life would be enhanced if you were able to remove this belief from your life.

Create five affirmations you can repeat to yourself throughout the day. The affirmations should be stated in the positive and address the new belief you’d like to install.

2.Recognize the small victories. It’s not necessary to earn a million dollars or lose 50 pounds before you have the right to feel proud and excited. Any progress is worthy of recognizing. Large successes are the culmination of many smaller successes.

3.Take full responsibility for your current situation. Is it your fault that your parents mistreated you or that your boss is a jerk? Of course not, but no one else is going to fix the situation. It’s all on you. When you take responsibility, you have control. Self-esteem is elusive when you believe you don’t have control over your life.

4.Do something for others. It’s easy to feel selfish when all of your thoughts and activities are centered on yourself. Spend part of your time enhancing the lives of others. Demonstrate to yourself that you’re a good person.

5.Take a step each day toward your ideal self. We all have a vision of the person we’d like to be. That ideal version of ourselves might seem too far away to even consider, but take a small step each day. Each small improvement will raise your self-image. Start today by listing all the qualities you’d like to have.

6.Manage your self-talk. We all talk to ourselves. You’re not the only one! The greatest thing about this is that we can control what we say to ourselves. Is your self-talk positive or negative? Negative self-talk chips away at your feelings of self-worth. Be kind to yourself. Be encouraging, positive, and patient.

7.Get started on the bigger projects in your life. Your self-image is damaged when you fail to control yourself. Big projects are intimidating. Focus on getting started. Take at least a few minutes each day to tackle the bigger goals in your life. Sustained progress is the key.

8.Avoid comparing yourself to others. We all have different skills and talents. It’s unfair to compare yourself to other people. You’re doomed to be either too hard or too easy on yourself.

Compare yourself to your past. Are you doing better than you were last month? When you can consistently answer “yes,” you’ll be well on your way to maximizing your self-image.

Begin to build a healthy self-image today. Regardless of your past or current impressions of yourself, you can learn to view yourself in a more positive light. A healthy self-image is the springboard to happiness and success. Focus on the small victories in your life and be proud of your progress. You deserve to be successful and happy.

8 Serious Reasons to Develop A Sense Of Humor http://evagregory.com/8-serious-reasons-to-develop-a-sense-of-humor/ http://evagregory.com/8-serious-reasons-to-develop-a-sense-of-humor/#respond Mon, 11 Sep 2017 15:00:07 +0000 http://evagregory.com/?p=10026 If you’re interested in enhancing your health, brain, social life, and mood, try laughing more. Having a good sense of humor is beneficial to multiple aspects of your life. A well-developed sense of humor has incredible benefits. Laughing and smiling aren’t frivolous activities. So, let go of being so serious and learn why humor is so important.

A sense of humor has many advantages:

1.Strengthen your health. The more you laugh, the less frequently you’ll be sick. Studies have shown that laughing strengthens the immune system. It also lowers your blood pressure, which is great for your heart and brain. It’s possible that laughter can lower your medical expenses.

2.A sense of humor is attractive. Who doesn’t like to laugh? We’re instinctively drawn to people that laugh easily. Everyone likes to have a good time and release their stress.

If you’re fun to be with and you know how to make others laugh, you’ll find yourself surrounded by others who also have a good sense of humor.

3.Reduce stress. Daily life is stressful. There are many ways to relieve stress, but few feel as good as laughing. With a good sense of humor, it’s easy to find reasons to laugh about life. A good laugh will allow you to forget about your challenges for a little while.

4.Uplift your mood.It feels good to laugh, and the good feelings can last for hours afterwards. Humor can redirect your focus from the negative happenings in your life to something more enjoyable.

5.Enhance your social life. Whether you’re trying to find new friends or trying to find the man or woman of your dreams, a sense of humor is critical. Consider the most popular people you know. Are they upbeat and do they smile easily? Or do they lack a sense of humor?

6.Benefit others.Your mood, words, and actions affect those around you. When you’re in a bad mood, it negatively impacts others. Your smiling, happy face and mood are uplifting and brighten the moods of those around you.

7.Strengthen your relationships. Is it possible to have a relationship that wouldn’t benefit from your sense of humor? Laughing together brings you closer together. You’ll find that your relationships with your neighbors, friends, family, and coworkers benefit from your ability to laugh and appreciate the lighter side of life.

8.Increase your intelligence. At the very least, you’ll learn more easily. A study demonstrated that laughing stimulates the learning centers of the brain. Stimulating those areas on a regular basis is believed to enhance the ability to learn new information. Laughing might help you get a scholarship to Harvard.

Laughing is good for you. Your sense of humor impacts your health, mood, social life, and those around you. They say that, “Laughter is the best medicine.” Now you have a better idea why that statement is true. Find the humor in life and keep your mood light. There are no benefits to expecting the worst and experiencing negative moods.

Spend time with others who enjoy laughing. Make it a point to enjoy funny movies or watch your favorite comedians. Your laughter helps you and those around you. Feel free to laugh more.

7 Ways To Invite Abundance Into Your Life http://evagregory.com/7-ways-to-invite-abundance-into-your-life/ http://evagregory.com/7-ways-to-invite-abundance-into-your-life/#respond Fri, 08 Sep 2017 15:00:21 +0000 http://evagregory.com/?p=10023 You’ve probably noticed that some people you know seem to have more positivity in their lives than others. They overflow with goodness and abundance. Looking at them, you find yourself wondering, “What’s their secret? They have such a great life. I want my life to be better, too.”

You might have thought the people who seem to have so much spiritually, physically, and emotionally are just lucky. Good things just happen to them. However, great things can happen to you, too, and there are specific actions you can take to attract positivity and invite more prosperity into your own life!

Try these strategies to usher greater abundance into your life:

1.Get organized. When you keep all the things you own in order, everyday living is easier and less stressful. There’s a place for everything and everything is in its place. This leaves room in your life for abundance.

2.Throw out old stuff. If you don’t use it anymore, get rid of it. Clear out clothing, appliances, gadgets, and anything else you no longer need. Things that are old, broken, or unable to be cleaned up properly are just taking up space you could use for something that has more value to you.

3.Give away some of your possessions. Whether you pass along magazines you’ve already looked at or clothing that no longer fits, spread some of the abundance you have already. When you give to others, your heart opens up and good things can more easily make their way into your life.

4.Find a place for possessions that are important to you. Provide each of your cherished items with a “home” within your home. When you take care of what you have, you’re acknowledging and showing respect for the abundance that’s already in your life.

5.Use what you have. Take advantage of the items you’ve collected over the years. You obviously see them as having value, so why not put them to good use? You’ll feel more positive about life and will get in touch with the abundance you already have when you make use of your possessions the way they were meant to be used.

6.Stop mindless purchases. Make a vow to avoid compulsively buying the next new gadget. If you always want the latest item on the market, look inside yourself and see what that’s all about. Also, remind yourself of all the “stuff” you’ve accumulated that you don’t use. After all, they were at one time the next new thing.

Take some time to figure out how you feel whenever you want to buy another new item. Recognize that you’ll hamper your efforts to invite abundance into your life if you keep spending money frivolously on random stuff.

7.Ask yourself what you need in your life right now.Learn to distinguish between “wants”and “needs.” If you do, you’ll find it actually takes very little to live a good life with purpose and abundance. As you learn to determine when you actually need something, you’ll experience more confidence in your own abilities to usher in abundance.

You may be surprised to learn that in order to invite abundance into your life, you can follow some fairly simple steps. There’s no magic secret to happiness. Anyone can cultivate it.

8 Activities That Build Your Self-Confidence http://evagregory.com/8-activities-that-build-your-self-confidence-2/ http://evagregory.com/8-activities-that-build-your-self-confidence-2/#respond Thu, 07 Sep 2017 15:00:40 +0000 http://evagregory.com/?p=10019 Law of Attraction CoachEverything becomes easier when you’re brimming with self-confidence. As soon as self-doubt enters your mind, your ability to act is compromised. Self-confidence might seem to rise and fall in a random fashion, but there are steps you can take to increase the level of confidence you experience on a regular basis.

Enhance your self-confidence and accomplish more with these techniques:

1.Achieve a goal. Start small. Your goal might be to arrive to work on time every day this week or to eat a piece of fruit each day. Easy goals are easy to accomplish. When you accomplish something, you feel more confident. Choose easy goals that make a difference. The accomplishment of many, small goals will change your level of confidence.

2.Make a list of your accomplishments. It’s interesting that our failures are easy to list, but our accomplishments require a little more pondering. Make a list of your accomplishments and review them each day. Remember how great you felt in that moment.

3.Groom yourself to a higher standard. Get a better haircut. Spend a little more time and attention on your grooming each morning. Learn how to apply your makeup more effectively. Trim your beard in a more attractive manner. Trim those stray ear and nose hairs. You’ll be surprised how much better you look and feel.

4.Be assertive.Having more control over your life results in greater self-confidence. One of the quickest ways to increase the level of influence you have over your life is to be more assertive. Give yourself small tasks to accomplish that require assertiveness.

A few examples you might consider:

Walk into a fast-food restaurant and ask for a cup of water without ordering anything else. It doesn’t matter whether your request is granted. Just ask.

Tell your boss one thing you’d like to change about your job or your work environment.

Make one suggestion to your significant other that would enhance your relationship.

5.Dress nicer. We all feel more confident when we’re dressed well. Up your game and put the “nice clothes” in your closet to work for you. Think of your friend or coworker that dresses the best. Shoot for a similar level of clothing while maintaining your own style. It takes the same amount of time to put on a nicer shirt.

6.Practice.Practice breeds confidence. You’ll be much more confident if you practice your speech ten times instead of five. Whether you practice your flirting skills or your ability give presentations, your confidence will increase with practice.

7.Drop one thing from your life. The odds are high that you’re currently stuck with an obligation in your life that you don’t enjoy. While there are some things in life you have to
do, there are just as many that you don’t. Take control and drop one of these non-essential activities that you prefer not to do anyway.

8.Find a mentor. The right mentor can make all the difference. Knowing that you have an expert on your side is sure to boost your confidence. A good mentor will provide the support and guidance necessary to reach your goals. Good mentors aren’t easy to find, but well worth the effort to locate.

Some of us are blessed with a high level of self-confidence while others must learn to cultivate it. Focus on your accomplishments, be more assertive, and find a mentor. Spend time each day growing your self-confidence and experience real personal growth.

7 Simple Ways To Change the World http://evagregory.com/7-simple-ways-to-change-the-world-2/ http://evagregory.com/7-simple-ways-to-change-the-world-2/#respond Wed, 06 Sep 2017 15:00:04 +0000 http://evagregory.com/?p=10014 Mahatma Gandhi once said, “Be the change you want to see in the world.” The wonderful thing about doing this is that you can set off chain after chain of positive events. Some call it the Butterfly Effect. One small thing you do can have repercussions all around the world.

Whatever positive actions you want to see more of, take responsibility to produce it yourself.

When you show the world your willingness to be positive, others follow your lead, and before you know it, you’re changing the world one action at a time. There’s no better way to effect positive changes in the world.

If you’re stumped about what you can do to make the world a better place, try these ideas:

1.Listen to what others say, without interrupting. It sounds simple, yet you find yourself wanting to cut others off in conversation or rush them to finish speaking. Truly listening and then responding to what they say makes them feel valued – like they matter – and that’s one positive change you just produced.

In being around you, they learn to do the same and spread the concept to others, who then repeat the process.

2.Give away some things. You probably have items in good condition that you don’t use anymore. Pack a box full of things you no longer use and take them to a local charity.

Someone will benefit from your items and you’ll both feel good about your action.

3.Do something to help others. Research charities you’re interested in and then offer to help. You could call the local social service agencies and offer your services for free.

Maybe you’re an accountant and could do their accounting at no cost. If you’re a maintenance worker, offer your “fix-it” services to charities’ offices.

You could knit or crochet blankets, baby hats, and shawls for local hospitals, hospices, or nursing homes.

4.Organize a volunteer effort to assist a group of individuals. For example, collect boxed foods and blankets and ship them to US military bases all over the world. Another example is to raise money for construction materials to send to Haiti to build new homes and schools for communities hampered by storms.

If you’re aware of the needs of a certain group, start your own local efforts to assist.

5.Deposit change in vending machines and walk away. A simple and fun way to “pay it forward” is to put enough change in a vending machine so the next person that walks up can receive a drink or snack for free.

6.Adopt a family. During the holidays, you won’t need a lot of money to share the holiday spirit with others. Through local churches or social service agencies, you can “adopt”a local family. The church or organization provides you with the first names of a nuclear family’s members, their genders, and ages so you can purchase 1-2 gifts for each of them. Sometimes, the list you’re given provides you with clothing sizes and gift ideas for each family member.

After shopping, place the tagged gifts in a big box and drop them off to the organization sponsoring the Adopt-a-Family event. You can bring joy and happiness to an anonymous family at holiday time.

You don’t have to wait for the holidays to help out a family. Missions all over the world help support families that need food, clothing, and school supplies. Your neighborhood churches can put you in touch with someone in need.

7.Pay for a family’s dinner when you’re dining out. You have a golden opportunity to change the world by anonymously paying for a family’s meal. If you like, have the server give them a note onto which you scribbled, “Pass it on.”

You can effect more positive change in the world around you than you realize. Strive to do helpful, giving, and caring actions for others. Demonstrating kindness is truly contagious. Live a passionate life by changing the world one action at a time.
